» How tall would a women giantess have to be to demolish a semi trailer?

20 ftA semi trailer is about 14' tall. Let's think about stepping on a toy truck here - it's not that easy to smash a Tonka now, is it? What kinds of tools does this giantess have? If I had a sledgehammer, I could probably demolish a 1' tall Tonka pretty good, and let's say for easy figuring I'm 6'. That means I'd prefer to have a demolition ratio of 6-1. Using the same logic, for ease of attack, I'd suggest 6 x 14 = 84 foot giantess. Sure, you could probably get away with a smaller giantess, but how hard should she have to work?where in the world did you see the giantess? Can I have her number!...... - 2009-07-04

» MP3 track change skipping issue

i've tried playing tracks ripped from cd's using lame that are gapless, and they playback fine. however, a lot of my tracks don't. the reason for this is most likely that there is something wrong with the mp3 file itself, but this does not stop foobar2000 or winamp with in_mpg123 playing the tracks perfectly. the errors in the tracks will probably have been caused because i use this (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=35654&st=0) tool to split my large mp3 mixes with cuesheets. the symptoms are that xbmc actually cuts the beginning of tracks off. the output is gapless but not correct and it is very obvious that there is an error between the two files. bug fixed - link removed - thanks! some relevant parts of the ...... - 2009-07-04

on class 1 railroads like amtrak, BNSF, rail runner, metrolink, I heard of NARS, but where are other places in the USAGoogle railraod academies, you have most of them covered. All a railroad academy can do is teach you basic operating rules and demonstrate you have a strong desire to work in the railroad industry. There is absolutly nothing that can replace on the job training for train and engine service. If a railroad academy can help you get hired they have done thier job, it is up to you and the railroad to accomplish the rest.Modoc Railroad Academy in Sacramento, CA nj transit will hire anyone with a decent pulse and train you with pay..not all railroads pay you to train........ - 2009-07-04

» Visual Basic and PDF's

Is there a control I can use to create a PDF viewer in Visual Basic. I would like to write a VB program that displays an encrypted PDF file. I'm looking for a free or very cheap method of doing this. Thank you.Hi Johngl, We did a bit of work in this area and there are some options available to you. Firstly if you have Acrobat Reader installed on your PC you will find a file called pdf.ocx in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 5.0\Reader\ActiveX folder. You can reference this in your program and this provides a fairly good PDF viewer. The only problems with this is the component is no longer supported by Adobe and may not always work. I am in charge of organizing the annual silent auction for my son's preschool this year. This year, we are thinking about having part of the auction's items go on sale online, shortly before (or perhaps after) the evening of the live auction. My question is what options are available to us to host this "private" auction online. Here are some of the features I am looking for: 1. The ability to have a single page showing all of the items - sort of a "homepage" for this online auction. 2. Potentially, the ability to restrict the bidding. This is not a requirement - I just want to know if it's possible to restrict the bidding to people who've been invited. I have listed items on eBay before. USA all the way right or wrong! If your not behind our troops get in front of them! Seriously, the U.S. does next to nothing for its own citizens (compared to EU or Japan), or at least the ones who aren't very rich, and so many people are willing to give their life (or at least claim to) in offensive military struggles and deny any criticism aimed towards their country. I'm damn proud of the United States in theory, but not so much in practice. If we were invaded by a country that had no legitimate grievance with us and that wanted to harm the general American population and take away our civil liberities or constitution, I would fight, believe me. what chance is there that china will not host the 2008 olympicsDear Ray_on_the_web, I am no prophet, just a mere Google Answers Researcher, so take my answer with a grain of salt. In the modern history of the Olympic Games, games have been cancelled only in cases of world wars. Even the 1936 Olympics, held in Berlin, took place as planned despite the rise of the Nazis to power four years earlier. Since 1948 (London), every Olympic Games took place in the place and the time scheduled. That includes 1968 (Mexico, student rebellion), 1980 (Moscow, boycott of most Western countries after the invasion to Afghanistan) and 1984 (Los Angeles, boycott of the Eastern bloc). This list would probably even include the "Chaos Olympics", due to take...... - 2009-07-04

Hello all. Some of you may remember a few months ago, I was asking about ideas for a wedding I had coming up where the B/G are both involved heavily in Civil War reinactments. The Wedding is next Saturday 10/27. This Saturday 10/20, we are planning on doing their engagement and bridal pics. They wanted to wait for some fall foliage for their engagement pics and the bride is making her own dress, thus we are down to the wire getting her dress done, and therefore, also the bridal shots. I was posting for some pose ideas if anyone had any. The engagement pics will be in regular attire. Mind this is a JT editorial. Japan plods path of isolation Japan continues to be the odd man out in Northeast Asia. While the other states in the region have been forging ties and building networks with each other -- even North Korea -- Japan has lagged behind. Tokyo could be marginalized in its own neighborhood. That risk has motivated Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi Junichiro's two foreign policy gambles of the last six months -- his trips to Pyongyang and Russia. Koizumi rightfully is trying to break Japan out of its regional isolation and position the country to play a role in the future. => http://www.japantimes.co.jp/cgi-bin/geted.pl5?eo20030116bg.htm...... - 2009-07-04

» Convincing My Company to Use AS3-Fla's: HELP!!!

Hey everyone, So Ive been put in charge of leading the transition for my company from Flash 8 to Flash CS3. As a coder, I rejoice using AS3, but since I'm the main flash guy (it's all I use at work) and all the other designers only use flash occasionally, I'm having a hard time convincing them to use AS3 FLA's! They all want to use AS2 publish settings so they can still have their on(release) and code directly on buttons, etc. What are my arguements...? What would you say? They, not being coders, do not understand...and apparently neither do I because I can't come up with many reasons. ps. We don't do anything super complicated. Yet there’s little you can do consciously to change such habits; you simply have to take the time to practice with the new set of rules. Now a new study shows that if people are given appropriate cues and learn tasks in a certain order, they can learn new rules more quickly and call them up at the right time. » Why is aperture a ratio?

I've read some of the beginning photo books, done a good amount of searching online- I understand all the basic concepts of aperture, shutter speed, ISO to get a proper exposure. I'm just confused as to why aperture is expressed as a fraction. I understand how the stop system works to increase/decrease the area by 2, but for different focal lengths, I don't understand why the same f number corresponds to the same amount of light (assume the same shutter speed). For Example If you had f/1.8 on a 55mm lens, wouldn't that equate to more light into the sensor than f/1.8 on a 24mm lens? The actual diameter of the opening for the 55mm lens is 55/1.8=30.5mm, while for the 24mm lens it is 24/1.8=13.3mm, right? Now the area just scales linearly, ...... - 2009-07-04

Why do I get "Delayed Write Failures" when using Firewire? » What's a good CD player?

I currently have a Denon DCD 460 CD player which I bought about 10 years ago. The good news: it produces rich sound, which I greatly appreciate. The bad news: it has no anti-skipping feature, which drives me nuts. So, I need a new CD player that does two things: (1) Produces rich sound, (2) Has anti-skipping. Just yesterday, I returned a Bose TriPort portable CD player because the sound that it produces is not as good as my old Denon CD player. (It has a great anti-skipping feature, though.) A price of $300 is ok, although I'd go up to $500 for a CD player that produces amazingly rich sound.
